Badinerie

DEFINITION

Badinerie is a piece of music that is light-hearted in character. The best known badinerie is the lively, last movement of Bach's suite in b minor for flute, strings and continuo.<br><br>Badinerie is an 18th century English word derived from the 1650s, French word &acirc;&#128;&#156;badin&acirc;&#128;&#157; or &acirc;&#128;&#156;badinage&acirc;&#128;&#157; which means "playfulness, jesting, to jest, joke, silly&acirc;&#128;&#157;.
